Paul Lewing and I were very honored to be selected to present a co-lecture on china painting at the NCECA clay conference in Seattle, WA on March 29, 2012.
NCECA is the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts : http://www.nceca.net/ and is an organization of teachers of the ceramic arts ( K-12,high school, college, private art schools and studios)
It is estimated that there were about 4,000 participants at the Seattle convention . ( EDIT ) actually , I heard from Paul that 4,100 was the pre-registration and they actually estimate that there were closer to 6,000 attendees.

here is a copy of the program :

We invited our friend Garth Johnson to introduce us .

And here's a picture of the crowd from the podium taken about halfway through . The presentation was at 9 AM on the official opening day of the convention so we were very pleased with the attendance.

Paul and I have been doing break out workshops at NCECA for the past 5 or 6 years, and this is the first time we had our proposal for a co-lecture accepted.

We had a huge screen on stage where the powerpoint slide presentation was shown while we talked and the most nerve-wracking part was trying to keep it all within the 1 hour we were given .

It was very exciting and I think that potters came away with a whole different viewpoint and appreciation of what can be done with overglaze.

I am going to break down our presentation into Paul's half and my half just to help things load a little faster.

We want to thank all the artists who so very graciously allowed us to use their work as part of our presentation . We could not have done this without your wonderful images. ;thanks;

More information about techniques can also be found on different sections of the forum . A good place to look is in the "Chinapainting Subjects and Techniques" thread and in the classrooms.

Paul and I are also both available for workshops... and I can also be contacted by email for technical information .

Hi Marci and Paul, it's been a while since i posted but i still follow the forum.
I'd like to say well done you two, it must have been a real buzz for you both. I'd love to have met Garth.
I'm playing with clay a bit but mostly small scale stuff, and I want to go BIG. I wondered if Paul knows Jim Robison, i was blown away by his large textural pieces so I'm saving up to do a clay course with him one of these days
